Reforesting NYC | Tree Giveaway in Brooklyn

All around the world, NYC is referred to as the concrete jungle, buildings stacked on top of one another for as far as the eye can see and a never ending river of excitement flowing through the streets of the city that never sleeps. But through the cracks in the pavement, sidewalks, and at the edges of the city, grasses, herbs, and weeds break through to remind us of the omnipresence and resilience of nature. More and more greenspaces are emerging as oases for city dwellers, and we are finding that composting, upcycling, community sustained agriculture, and zero waste initiatives are becoming increasingly prevalent.

This coming week, join Root to Heaven founder Nicole Adriana Casanova for a two-day event and tree giveaway to help support and fortify the local ecosystem with more care, wisdom and life!

On Thursday night, participants will tune in online to learn about Root to Heaven's original mission and 5-year initiative, Family Tree, and share a guided meditation on the biodiversity of life. We will cover how to plant seeds, flowers, food and trees in a prayerful way that will benefit all of humanity, and participants will be given the opportunity to share a song for the earth, for life, and all good things to flourish.

Following the online event, attendees are invited to the Golden Drum on Saturday, May 28th, between 2-4pm for a bare root tree** giveaway outside on the sidewalk***. Each person will be given up to 5 bare root trees to take home bagged and with enough good soil to safely transport the trees. Once home or wherever you will plant these trees, you will have to have your own soil for the planting.

To help cover the costs of transport, soil for home transportation, and material, participants are asked to donate $30 to Root to Heaven.
